Erjavec’s main areas of focus at PCC have been on improving student access, retention and graduation rate. She gained approval for bond issues that developed a new and expanded Learning Center on the Pueblo campus and the planned enhancement of a student-approved College Center, both projects directly targeting student success by providing more learning resources and student life.

In addition, Patty was instrumental in the college adopting a number of initiatives aimed at enhancing student success and growth as well as customer service. These included establishing a President’s Leadership Program that includes an articulation agreement with CSU-Pueblo, supporting Phi Theta Kappa with new scholarship dollars to aid student participation, adopting a learning philosophy of "Building a Culture of Learning & Student Success at PCC," forming a Retention Project Team, developing a Customer Solution Center to enhance customer service, and expanding services to veterans.

Erjavec introduced the annual Celebration Walk, held on the first day of each fall semester, to congratulate students for taking the first step on their journey to success. She also was the catalyst for PCC adopting the "PCC Promise" to develop a college-wide culture of positively helping and respecting both students and staff while celebrating their accomplishments.

Prior to coming to PCC, Erjavec worked 11 years at El Pueblo … an Adolescent Treatment Community, including the last nine as its President and CEO. Under her leadership, El Pueblo evolved into a Center of Excellence, noted for providing high-quality care in the delivery of a continuum of residential and non-residential services. It also became an accredited Behavioral Healthcare Facility and was licensed by the Colorado Department of Human Services’ Division of Behavioral Health to provide substance abuse treatment. She also oversaw the construction and renovation of 11 therapeutic cottages and several other support services on the El Pueblo grounds. Under her direction, it increased its capacity by 50%.

Before starting at El Pueblo, Erjavec was employed in a variety of responsible capacities with three Pueblo companies. She held several positions with PCL Packaging, Inc., including six years as its general manager; was Controller for Magnum Gas & Oil, Inc.; and was Cost Accountant/Supervisor for Alpha Beta Packing Company.

During her working career, Erjavec served over seven years on the State Board of Community Colleges and Occupational Education, two of those years as chairperson. She served on the Board for USD Bank and the Colorado Association of Family and Children’s Agencies. Patty is a member of Rotary #43 and is a former board member for the Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center, the Colorado Association of Commerce & Industry Education Foundation, St. John Neumann Catholic School, and the Workforce Development Board of Pueblo, Huerfano and Las Animas counties. She also has contributed to numerous other local and state boards, committees or agencies by serving as them either as their chair, officer or member.

Ms. Erjavec has been recognized for both her professional and personal contributions by several organizations. She was inducted into the Pueblo Hall of Fame in 2010 and the South High School Alumni Hall of Fame in 2008. In 2005, Patty was named Administrator of the Year by the Colorado Adolescent Mental Health Coalition, and in 2003 she became the first woman recipient of the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce’s Charles W. Crews Outstanding Business Person of the Year award.
