 Dean of Student Services

Bruce Gifford

An educator with more than 30 years of experience in higher education has been named the Dean of Student Services at Pueblo Community College. Bruce Gifford, who most recently held a similar position at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, began his duties at PCC on July 1.

Before assuming his post as vice president for student services at North Idaho College in 2001, Gifford was dean of students and enrollment at the University of Alaska in Juneau for two years. He had worked previously in Alaska since 1982 with student services-related

administrative positions at the University of Alaska Southeast and University of Alaska/Ketichikan Community College.

Prior to that, he was director of admissions/registrar for Sheridan (Wis.) College, residence director for Centennial Towers at the University of Denver and coordinator of housing office services and counselor for the Multicultural Center at the University of Wisconsin (Platteville).

With the breadth and depth of a higher education career that began in 1973, Gifford is considered an asset and great match for PCC.

“PCC is very pleased to have an administrator of the caliber of Bruce Gifford joining us,” said Mike Davis, the college’s president. “Bruce will serve as an excellent facilitator of information and services among the students, faculty, staff and administrators. We look forward to having him join the PCC family.”

Marjorie Villani, PCC’s interim executive vice president, added that “Mr. Gifford has an outstanding background in student services and an administrative style that facilitates collaboration and teamwork with faculty, staff and administrators.”

Gifford has a master’s degree in counseling from Arizona State University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. His wife, Diane, is a consultant with a background in special education.
