The Role of The Title V Education Advocate
- Provide support in the areas of advising, student retention, program/course completion
- Work closely with faculty and division staff to ensure the success of students from entrance into a program through graduation and/or transfer
- Serve as principal liaisons and sources of information for Title V students, faculty and support staff
- Provide program intake; financial aid, personal, educational, and career counseling for students
- Review and interpret academic skill and career assessments
- Schedule and enroll students into classes
- Coordinate educational plans for students with faculty advisors and program chairs
- Provide immediate crisis intervention and direct students to appropriate college and community resources for further assistance
- Provide supportive environment for program participants
- Provide academic monitoring and tracking of program participants
- Coordinate the recruitment, training, and supervision of peer mentors/tutors
