College Assessment & Strategic Planning

Assessment and planning are inherent processes and are critical to the College in its effort to manage, improve, and move the institution forward in meeting its mission.

Goals

  • Develop an academic master plan with participation of administration and faculty to anticipate new programs, facilities, technology, and equipment needs.

  • Develop a program-planning model and evaluation plan to ensure that current and future College programs are meeting the needs of the community.

Employees

Employees are a critical component of College operations, and efforts to address significant staff needs will be vital to the success and overall growth of the College.

Goals

  • Develop a realistic ratio of full-time to part-time faculty based upon data analysis.   Implement necessary faculty positions through appropriate funding.  

  • Evaluate all grant-funded positions to determine value to the institution as well as sources of future funding.   Implement follow-up planning to ensure that grants awarded maintain sustainability after grant funds are depleted. 

  • Utilize data and information regarding needs for professional development to establish priorities in funding these activities for faculty and staff.

Revenue Growth

Revenue growth is imperative, and efforts to encourage efficiency and collaboration in securing other funding sources for College initiatives vital to continued growth.

Goals

  • Explore avenues to secure grant-writing services, which adequately address College needs for grant funding, grant management and future growth. 

  • Develop at least three new collaborative partnerships, which will support shared resources.

  • Support AQIP (A Quality Improvement Project) as a way to increase efficiency and provide a measure of effectiveness for all College activities and operations.

Enrollment Management

Enrollment management strategies, including effective retention and recruitment efforts, are critical to improving student retention and completion rates and generating enrollment growth.

Goals

  • Continue to actively support retention and recruitment efforts.
  • Ensure students and staff have up-to-date information regarding scholarship opportunities through better coordination and communication.

Learning Environment

The College has made great strides in improving the student learning environment, but continued progress in addressing program needs, library resources, student services and instructional technology is necessary to ensure a quality student learning experience.

Goals

  • Implement long-range equipment planning to ensure that the College is maintaining quality in its programs and services. 

  • Ensure adequate library resources for all campus library locations.

  • Continue support for instructional programs and activities.

Campus & Community

The College should be responsive to campus and community needs through effective communication.

Goals

  • Analyze the internal communication processes and develop a communication model to ensure that important and relevant information is provided to all faculty and staff.

  • Maximize external communication and relationships with the community. 

Facilities & Technology

Appropriate facility and technology resources are critical to College operations and necessary to the support a quality student learning experience.

Goals

  • Evaluate the facility usage needs and specific site needs for the Southwest Center and Fremont Campus. 

  • Develop a facilities maintenance plan and technology plan to ensure that requests are addressed in a timely fashion.

  • Address facility modification, maintenance, and technology requests within the budgeting process.

  •  Assess the parking needs of the Pueblo Campus and develop a plan to alleviate current parking problems.
